"Even A Fool Would Let Go" (Tom Snow/Kerry Chater)
Arrangement based on Gregson & Collister's from "Love Is a Strange Hotel." I suspect they picked this song up
from Levon Helm's version or the one by the Marshall Tucker Band, but there are many recordings from the late
'70s such as Dolly Parton's. Other versions make use of somereally interesting chord variations over the same
melody. Kerry Chater did a version in the '70s where he throws in an Amin(maj7) in over "no" in the chorus.
This chord would be x02110. It's interesting but a bit too sentimental to my ears.
G&C play it in Bb and do some amazing harmony vocals. G works for my voice, but you'll want to
shift it to a key that suits yours. Levon Helm's version is in E and has a nice melodic guitar solo.
Be sure to catch the high note over the A chord in the chorus in the vocal (it's a G here).
Making the the tension note in the melody over a borrowed chord is such a cool songwriting move!
I mark this song as "intermediate" not because the chords are especially difficult, but the melody is
challenging.
