The Alkaline Trio were the band that started it all for me. Many times I have tried to cover a song and many times I have failed until I stumbled across a YouTube video of the band playing a intimate Record Shop Acoustic session. The song Every Thug Needs a Lady starts at 23:55. The video is here for reference https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9oaqr1rF3No This is the kind of Acoustic I like to play so I got straight on with transcribing. I'm pretty much certain I have this nailed and it sounds sick! Tuning in the video is a step down but if you're just playing it live you can leave it standard or like I do capo up on 2nd. The Chord names are just there for reference but these are the actual finger positions. On the D Chord I like to hang my thumb over the neck to mute the E string. Moving your ring finger around between the 1st, and 3rd frets on the B string lets you play the lead on the intro too which takes a little practice but definitly adds a more dynamic sound. Hope it all makes sense :) G 32003x Asus4 x0223x D5 x0023x Em7 02203x Cadd2 x3203x Bm#5 x2003x [Intro] Riff (G, Asus4, Em7, Cadd2) [Verse] G Asus4 I know it's dark here, you know that I'm scared too Em7 Cadd2 For some reason right now, of everything but you G D5 C Right now you're all that I recognize G Asus4 You know I came here when I needed your soft voice Em7 Cadd2 I needed to hear something that sounded like an answer G D5 Cadd2 Now I wait here, and sometimes I get one [Bridge] D5 Cadd2 It's nothing I'll forget when the moon gets tired D5 Cadd2 You are stuck to me everyday D5 Cadd2 Bm#5 Em7 Believe in what I am because it's all I have today Cadd2 D5 G Bm#5 Em7 And tomorrow who knows where we'll be Cadd2 Bm#5 Asus4 Cadd2 D5 G From here I can hardly see a thing Cadd2 Em7 Cadd2 But I will follow anyone who brings me to you Bm#5 Asus4 Cadd2 D For now, forever, for on and on and on Intro Riff again (G, Asus4, Em7, Cadd2) [Verse] G Asus4 You know it starts here, outside waiting in the cold Em7 Cadd2 Kiss me once in the snow, I swear it never gets old G D5 Cadd2 But I will promise you I can make it warmer next year G Asus4 You know I came here when I needed your soft voice Em7 Cadd2 I needed to hear something that sounded like an answer G D5 Cadd2 Now I stay here, and everyday I get one [Bridge] D5 Cadd2 It's nothing I'll forget when the moon gets tired D5 Cadd2 You are stuck to me everyday D5 Cadd2 Bm#5 Em7 Believe in what I am because it's all I have today Cadd2 D5 G Bm#5 Em7 And tomorrow who knows where we'll be Cadd2 Bm#5 Asus4 Cadd2 D5 G From here I can hardly see a thing Cadd2 Em7 Cadd2 But I will follow anyone who brings me to you Bm#5 Asus4 Cadd2 D For now, forever, for on and on and on Intro Riff again (G, Asus4, Em7, Cadd2) [Verse] G D5 Cadd2 So go plug in your electric blanket G D5 Cadd2 We can stay in 'till our southern summer wedding day G D5 Cadd2 Go plug in your electric blanket D5 G D5 Cadd2 D5 G We can stay here Thanks for checking out the tab.
