The Knack
Maybe Tonight (1978)
(Doug Fieger)
From: "Get the Knack"
I have always liked this beautiful song!
When I sat down to transcribe it I noticed that there is something strange
about the A-chord in the verses: If my ears don’t deceive me, the rhythm
guitar plays a major chord in the first half and a minor in the second. In
the second verse the lead guitar even plays a minor line (starting off from
a “c”) over this major chord, thus creating a strange tension there. The
solo on the other hand (which uses the verse structure) has Am both times,
I think. If you don’t hear it that way, just use Am throughout in the
verses.
The Gm9 and C7 in the last line of the bridge are optional. If you
think they're too much, just play Gm7 and C.
Comments are highly welcome!
