The song is in D Major The other versions I have seen online all seem to based on version 1 here on this site--which never sounded right to my ear. The main difference is walking down to the Em (not A) chord on the verses, and playing G (instead of C) on the chorus. Most of the chords are played as arpeggios, and you don't need the full chord shapes when you walk down to Em. Just play the root notes as you go down (just like the lyrics, eh?).
