-----Cripple Creek----- The version I am tabbing out is based off of the Earl Scruggs and Lester Flatt version. Also Billy Connolly does a fantastic rendition. Highly recommended. Open G tuning (DGDGBD) Sometimes I put a capo on the 2nd or 3rd frets, but its preference honestly. Basically you are tuning your guitar to the same tuning a banjo is in, open G. It sounds pretty darn close. This song is fairly easy to play and is absolutely a blast. Enjoy! I also recommend muting some of the notes as well to get a bit more gritty bluegrass feel to it. Lick 1: D|-/5-5-5-5-0----------/5-5-5-5---------------------|| B|----------------5-3-------------------------------|| G|------------4-5----------------4p0-2p0-----0---- o|| Repeat as needed D|---------------------------------------2p0------ o|| G|--------------------------------------------------|| D|--------------------------------------------------|| Lick 2: D|--------------------------------------------------|| B|----------------------3---------------------------|| G|--/4-4-2-0-------/4-4-----/4-4-2-0---------0---- o|| Repeat as needed D|-----------2-0---------------------2-0--0-2----- o|| G|--------------------------------------------------|| D|--------------------------------------------------|| There are a lot of different improvisations you can do off of these licks that are a lot of fun to play and sound good, but these are the basic licks to give you a good start.
