Gravity Rides Everything Modest Mouse The Moon Over Antarctica Tabbed by: Aaron Wolfe Email: [email protected] Email me if you have anything to say about my tab This song is really complicated, and there is a lot going on at once. At least 2 guitars recorded for this, which were layered and recorded so that there sounds like 12 dozen, let's ignore that for now. I've decided to set it up so that you could actually play this song live so that it sounds like the song. I'm almost 100% positive thats its completely but if you disagree then let me know. I hope that it's informative and easy to understand. Tuning: Standard Guitar 1: Clean Electric w/ Whammy Bar Guitar 2: Acoustic Guitar 3: Sitar sound effect/Actually is a Sitar Guitar 4: Clean Electric Intro: Guitar 1 The intro has some crazy bends. Just mess around with it until it sounds right. e|---------------------| B|-5^---5^-------------| G|-----------4^---4^---| x2 D|---------------------| A|---------------------| E|---------------------| Verse Chords: Guitar 2 Asus2 E e-0--0-0-0--0-0-0--000--0-0-0--0-0-0--000--0-0-0--0-0-0--000--0-0-0--00| B-0--0-0-0--0-0-0--000--0-0-0--0-0-0--000--0-0-0--0-0-0--000--0-0-0--00| G-2--2-2-2--2-2-2--222--2-2-2--2-2-2--221--1-1-1--1-1-1--111--1-1-1--11| D-2--2-2-2--2-2-2--222--2-2-2--2-2-2--222--2-2-2--2-2-2--222--2-2-2--22| A-0--0-0-0--0-0-0--000--0-0-0--0-0-0--002--2-2-2--2-2-2--222--2-2-2--22| E---------------------------------------0--0-0-0--0-0-0--000--0-0-0--00| This is repeated alone until 1:14 when Guitar 3 kicks in with this riff (the part where says "Early, early in the morning.."): Asus2 E e---------------------------------------------------------------------------| B---------0---------------0-------------------------------------------------| G-----1-2----2--1-----1-2----2--1------------1---------------1--------------| D-2-2-------------2-2-----------------1-2-4-----2-----1-2-4-----2-----------| A---------------------------------2-2-------------2-2-----------------------| E---------------------------------------------------------------------------| At 1:33 Guitar 2 switches to this riff ("In the motions, and things that you say"): e----------------------------------------| B----------------------------------------| G---6-9-6---------------6-9-6------------| D-7-------6h7--9-7\6--7-------6h7--9-7\6-| A----------------------------------------| E----------------------------------------| e----------------------------------------| B----------------------------------------| G----------------------------------------| D---9-6-9---------------6-9-6------------| A-7-------6h7--9-7\6--7-------6h7--9-7\6-| E----------------------------------------| At 2:02 the intro is reintroduced by Guitar 1 and played over Guitar 2's riff. The part on the high E string is probably another instrument, but I already have 4 guitars so I'm gonna leave it like this. e----------------2-4-0-2----------------2-4-0-2-| B-5^---5^----------------5^---5^----------------| G-----------4^---------------------4^-----------| D-----------------------------------------------| A-----------------------------------------------| E-----------------------------------------------| Also Guitar 4 comes in and plays this at the same time as Guitars 1 and 2. e------------------------------| B-9-7-0-9--7--0--9-7-0-9--7--0-| G------------------------------| D------------------------------| A------------------------------| E------------------------------| The rest of this tab I will set up like a timeline so you know when each guitar is doing what. -At 2:10 Guitar 2 Switches back to the Verse Chords. -At 2:19 Guitar 3 comes back in. Guitars 1 and 4 stop, until 2:38, when he says "Early, early in the morning..." There now 4 guitars playing at once. -At 2:47 Guitar 2 switches from the chords to its riff. -At 2:56 its just Guitar 1 and Guitar 2. Guitar 1 is just doing its Intro riff, without high E string part. -At 3:15 Guitar 4 comes back in, and Guitar 1 switches back to the intro riff WITH the E string part. -At 3:24 Guitar 3 comes in again, Guitar 2 is back to chords, and the other two guitars the same. Then they all fade out. Whew! Thats everything. If you ever wanted to play this song live, you'd need 4 guitarists, or least 3 guitars and a keyboardist for the sitar, a bass player, and a drummer who's at sliding drumsticks for that interesting percussion section of this song. | / slide up | \ slide down | h hammer-on | p pull-off | ~ vibrato | + harmonic | x Mute note | ^ Bend =============================================================================
