The (C*) just means: After strumming the Am chord, move your middle finger to the A to play the bass note before switching over to the C chord. Hint: When playing the G chord, to get to the G7 easier, play it like a C chord is with the third finger (or ring finger) on the low E string, and your pinky on the high E, way you can just lift your pinky and put your first finger on the high E (first fret) for the G7.
